Ranthambhore - The Fascinating Wildlife In India
The Park
In Eastern Rajasthan, at the merging point of The Aravali hill range & the Vindhyan plateau lies the Ranthambhore National Park. This sanctuary came under Project tiger scheme in 1973. This former hunting ground of Maharajas of Jaipur covers around 1334 sq. kms. area in Rajasthan. The National Park is bounded by the river Chambal in south and Banas in north & contains two other wildlife preserves naming 'The Sawai Mansingh Sanctuary' & 'The Keladevi Sanctuary' respectively. This Tiger reserve is popular among photographers & wild life conservationists for its biodiversity, population of tigers & other animals. One most Important fact about the Ranthambhore park is that it is an oasis of dense & dry deciduous forests.
Topography
Alike other wild life sanctuaries, Ranthambhore is rich in biodiversity. Topology of the park includes semi arid scrub and thorny desert vegetation. Dhok is the most prominent tree found in the park. Mammalian species that are easily spotted in Ranthambhore are antelopes, Nilgai, chital, Sloth bear, Wild boar, Chinkara, porcupines, jackals, leopards, jungle cats, fox, caracals, hyena, gazelle, Indian hare & mongoose to name a few. Abundant population of Sambhar is also seen in the park.

By Train The Park is around 11 km away from Sawai Madhopur railway station & lies on the Delhi - Bombay trunk route.
By Road Chose from the various options available such as Roadways buses, Delux Buses, Private Buses & some other heavy & small vehicles.
By Air Jaipur at the distance of 145 Km is the nearest airport from Ranthambhore wildlife sanctuary.
Best Season to go
Best season to visit Ranthambhore during winters is from October to March. Best time to visit the park during summers is from April to June.

Best time to visit Ranthambhore is from the month of October to March.
During Winters: Between October To March: 6.00 am - 9.00 am & 3.00 pm - 6.00 pm
During Summers: Between April To June: 6.30 am - to 9.30 am & 3.30 pm - 6.00 pm
Note: Visiting hours may vary depending upon the season. Ranthambhore is opened from 1st October & get closed for visitors on 30th of June due to heavy rain fall & unfavorable weather conditions. So visitors are requested to plan their visit accordingly.

- Carry those of the clothings that support the weather Conditions
- (In winters carry some warm clothes & in summers prefer cotton clothes with appropriate & Fitting & colors)
- A Pair of Comfortable shoes is best footwear instead of wearing a fashionable one
